Kayak perception swifty 9.59/10/2023 ![]() ![]() That’s how I treated my little Swifty, too, and it took 9 years, but finally…We don’t know what the OP’s handicap is, so he or she may not be able to do what you do. Perception has more kayaks under 800 USD, so if you’re on a tight budget, choose Perception. The Perception Sport Swifty 9.5 Kayak is light and easily maneuvered, making it one of the most popular recreational kayaks. Like Perception, Old Town’s kayaks are also made with durable and inexpensive rotomolded plastic. But the kayaks do get pulled up onshore, because I can’t lift them straight out of the water, which means the stern touch the bottom for a short distance. Both Perception and Old Town are well-established kayak brands with a reputation for making quality products. Includes footbed and trigger trigger Black only Part 9800812. I get in with the boat floating, get out with the boat floating, and pick them up right out of the water. The Harmony Keepers Replacement Foot Peg fits the footbraces on select Perception kayaks. If this is cheap though, its not a bad beginner boat and is nice and light for single person loading. It gets you on the water, plastic is decent but it doesnt track very well, if you want something for longer hauls Id say go with a 12 footer. Hey Jim and Jack, I sure don’t drag my canoes, not even letting the stern touch the sandy bottom to pull it onshore. I have one, its an older boat that I think is actually a Perception Swifty 9.5. See if you can find someone who can plastic weld it for you. Although I have 3 ultra lite canoes and a Hurricane Skimmer 128, I still enjoy using the Swifty occasionally. I took it to my local kayak shop (Travel Country in Altamonte Springs, FL) and they were able to plastic weld a repair which was perfect until someone stole the Swifty 4 years later.Īfter it was stolen, I bought a used one to replace it. I know the Perception kayaks are a bit higher end but my hang up and question. I also found a used Perception Swifty 9.5 locally for 350, saying it’s only been used once but stored outside for a while. ![]() My first kayak was a Perception Swifty 9.5, and while I never dragged it roughly or unnecessarily, after 9 years of a lot of use, a small hole did appear in the stern. I’ve had my eye on the Lifetime Cruze 10 ft because it seems to have good reviews, and because my local Tractor Supply Co has them for 200. ![]()
